A bachelor's degree in any discipline (such as BSW, BA, B.Sc., B.Com., BBM, BCA, BBA, or LLB) from UOM or any other recognized university.
The Master of Social Work (MSW) programme is a professional postgraduate course designed to develop competent social work practitioners, researchers, and development professionals capable of addressing contemporary social issues and promoting social justice. The programme provides students with theoretical knowledge, practical skills, ethical values, and field-based learning experiences necessary for professional social work practice. It focuses on understanding human behaviour, social systems, community development, social welfare administration, counselling, research methods, and intervention strategies for individuals, groups, and communities.
The curriculum integrates classroom teaching with fieldwork, internships, case studies, rural and urban community engagement, and research-based activities to enhance practical exposure and professional competence. The programme also emphasizes emerging areas such as mental health, human resource development, corporate social responsibility, digital transformation, and the application of technology in social work practice. Through multidisciplinary learning and participatory approaches, students are trained to work effectively in NGOs, hospitals, schools, industries, correctional settings, government agencies, and international organizations. The MSW programme aims to prepare socially responsible professionals committed to empowerment, inclusion, sustainable development, and the welfare of vulnerable and marginalized populations.
