Purpose and scope of the event:

Details of the talk :
The function started At 10.00 AM with invocation song by First year M.Sc., student, followed by lighting a lamp by our special guest Prof. B.A. Patil,Founder & CEO,Think & Ink Education and Research Foundation, Bangalore, along with Dr. Roopa R A, HOD, Department of Chemistry and all the faculty members of chemistry department. Students, teaching and non-teaching staff were assembled of the dais. Dr. Roopa R A, welcome the gathering and gave a brief introduction about Prof. B.A. Patil. The introduction cherished his work and his accomplishments in the area of Science and social services.
Prof. B.A.Patilgave a lecture on “Professional and Personal Achievements: Success Mantras from Madam Curie”, during the session sir interacted with the students and narrated few important aspects of madam curie’s life, which will influence and motivate the students. Along with this he also emphasized the value of research, and guided students and faculties to engage in more research work. He insisted students and faculties to think differently than common people to find a solution through the research for social and economic problems. Particularly he motivated the students for research work, which will knock the noble price door. Also, explained the different criteria for higher education, job opportunities in pharmaceutical companies which includes quality control, research and Development Lab. Sir encouraged the students to have a higher vision in life for the self and community upliftment apart from daily routine. He initiated to open up many start-up projects from ground level in the initial face of research.
The session followed by interaction with students till 2.00 PM. Dr. Manasa H. S gave a vote of thanks. At last singing national anthem enhanced patriotism in the gathering.

Prof. B. A. Patil internationally recognized computer scientist and space scientist in the area of lunar and space sciences, software architectures, signal processing and pattern recognition, smart structures, lakes & environmental engineering, intelligent structural mechanics, intelligent transport systems, embedded systems & controls and advanced mathematical modelling. He has special interest in crystallography and computational chemistry.
He has vast experience in the academia, national (Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore) and international research institutions in (USA, Germany, France, Japan) and MNCs ( IBM, HP, Arisglobal, Syniverse etc.) with various roles such as professor, scientist, data scientist, product manager, software architect, research director, program manager spanning a professional career of 35+ years.
He completed his B.E (Electronics) in 1985 from Gulbarga University, M. Tech (Communication Engineering) in 1989-90 from Mysore University and D.Sc (Fraunhofer Research Institute, Germany) in 2002.
After post-graduation, he worked as a scientist at Supercomputer Education and Research Center, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in the area of supercomputing and parallel computer architectures contributed to supercomputing applications for India.
Later he worked as Asst. Professor in Computer Science & Engineering, in Gulbarga University. During this tenure, had made independent research and contributed to the inclusive design, accessible software languages and user interfaces in Indian languages (Kannada, Hindi etc.) that enabled vernacular applications.
These significant works fetched him a research opportunity at Fraunhofer Research Institute, Germany for 12+ years, during these professional years visited and worked with best brains in the world and had an opportunity to meet Nobel laureates, including family members of Sir Albert Einstein and Madame Curie. He has 40+ national and international internal research publications, contributed to two books.
He has won one national and two international awards for developing inclusive technologies. He has two patents to his credits. He is the first person to write Kannada compiler in 1996 and user interfaces, the idea was to teach computer Kannada and won “Karnataka Government” Award in 1996. In 2002, he won “Salzburg Fellowship “Award from Austria for inclusive technologies.
He is member of IEEE, FIE, ACM, ISTE and CSI research organizations and European Science Forum (Germany/France), Founder Member of Information Science (Finland). He has worked with IBM France/India, HP, Arisgobal, Syniverse and many more MNCs at various roles with 30+ IT experience.
He is highly innovative and creative scientist with social responsibility. He is a successful entrepreneur to setup a science and innovation laboratory for young minds and his students won 4 gold medals at Royal Society of England for Chemistry in 2015- 16. His team has trained 10, 000 students to take up science and innovation. First to setup ThinkIT STEM finishing school for engineering and science UG/PG students.
He has multiple talents and is a African drum (Djembe) player, painter and artist, wild life photographer, historian and documentary film maker.
