Mahajana Research Foundation

Mahajana Research Foundation is established with the sole objective of encouraging Research by the faculty members who are working under the umbrella of Mahajana Institutions. Presently, the Foundation is engaged in the following activities.

  1. Compile and publish the research articles authored by Faculty members, who are working in different institutions of Mahajanas.
  2. Fund in a minimum way the research projects undertaken by faculty members.
  3. Publish scholarly books written by faculty members and also outside scholars.
  4. Enter in to memorandum of understanding with academic institutions to start new programmes.

The foundation is headed by a Director who coordinates all the programmes of the foundation.

Mahajana Research Foundation was instituted 10 years ago with the following objectives:

1. Establish a Research Culture:

  • Develop a culture that values and prioritizes research. This involves promoting the importance of research in achieving institutional goals.
  • Recognize and reward researchers for their contributions through awards, promotions, and other incentives.

2. Provide Adequate Resources:

  • Ensure that researchers have access to journals, books, monographs, reports and state-of-the-art facilities, equipment, and technology.
  • Allocate sufficient funding for research projects, including grants, scholarships, and other financial support mechanisms.

3. Encourage Interdisciplinary Collaboration:

  • Foster collaboration among researchers from different departments and disciplines. Interdisciplinary approaches can lead to innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Promote interdisciplinary research to facilitate collaboration with other institutions.

4. Support for Early Career Researchers:

  • Provide mentoring programs for early career researchers by identifying their strength, provide support for training programs, to help them develop their skills and navigate the academic landscape.
  • Create opportunities for junior faculty to engage in research and secure funding.

5. Promote a Publish or Perish Mentality:

  • Emphasize the importance of publishing research findings in reputed journals.
  • Encourage faculty to present their work in conferences/symposia and to participate in academic discussions.
  • Develop initiatives to support the dissemination of research outputs.

6. Facilitate Industry Partnerships:

  • Foster collaborations with suitable industries to enhance the relevance and impact of research.
  • Create mechanisms for researchers to engage with different sectors, leading to potential technology transfer and commercialization of research outcomes.

7. Support Professional Development:

  • Offer training and workshops on research methodologies, grant writing, and other relevant skills.
  • Support participation in conferences, workshops, and other events that contribute to professional development.

8. Establish Clear Research Policies:

  • Integrate institutional policies related to research, including ethical standards, intellectual property, and data management.
  • Ensure transparency and fairness in the distribution of research resources and opportunities.

9. Evaluate and Adjust Strategies:

  • Regularly assess the effectiveness of research promotion strategies and make adjustments based on feedback and outcomes.
  • Adaptation to changes in the research landscape and emerging opportunities.

  • Foster connections with the local community to educate and propagate knowledge for facing the real-world challenges through research.
  • Engage in outreach programs to communicate the impact of research on society.
    Implementation of these strategies enable us to create an environment conducive to research excellence and innovation, which ultimately contributes to the advancement of knowledge and societal well-being.

SEED MONEY FOR RESEARCH:

Mahajana Research Foundation with the purpose of promoting research in the institution thus creating an environment that fosters innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to advancing knowledge has introduced “SEED MONEY FOR RESEARCH” for the faculties with a sum of Rupees Two Lakhs each. This funding will support the initial work which is necessary to fine tune their expertise, enhance their academic accomplishments and to enable them to become competent for submission of proposals to national/international funding agencies or to provide an avenue to conduct exploratory research that may lead to new research initiatives.

Research and Development Centre

The college is recognized as Research and Development Centre from the University of Mysore in the broad subject areas of biotechnology, microbiology and biochemistry. R& D laboratory is well equipped with sophisticated instruments like HPLC, GC, Phase contrast microscope, Lyophilizer, Gel doc, PCR, ELISA, Flash evaporator etc. The students are involved in in-house ongoing projects to create awareness in R & D and are trained to handle different laboratory instruments independently.
