Report on Teacher’s Day Celebration

Pooja Bhagavat Memorial Mahajana Education Centre and R.V.P.B Pre-University College jointly had organized Teacher’s day celebration to mark the 135th Birth anniversary of philosopher, teacher and former President of India Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on Tuesday, 05th September 2023.

Dr. D. Anand, Professor and expert in the area of Organizational Behavior and Marketing Management from the University of Mysore was invited as the Chief Guest. The Honorary Secretary of Mahajana Education Society Dr. Vijayalakshmi Muralidhar, Presided over the event and the day was complete with the esteemed presence of Dr. C.K. Renukarya, Director of PG Centre and Sri Mahendra K. M., Principal of R.V.P.B. Pre-university College.

The celebration began with a soulful rendering of our state Anthem by the Faculties of PG centre which was followed by the traditional auspicious lighting of lamp by the dignitaries. The event then progressed with the address of the Chief Guest. Dr. Anand, in his address emphasized on the importance of education which is necessary for the transformation of society and life enrichment. Addressing teachers as “knowledge workers”, he stressed on redefining the job of a teacher to ascend from conventional mode of educating students towards holistic development of students that concentrates on enhancing cognitive, psychic, religious and ethical abilities.

He touched upon inculcating the dimensions of humanity, empathy, social wellness and values in students through education and stated “teaching is an attitude and not a designation to hold”.

In her presidential address Dr. Vijayalakshmi Muralidhar emphasized on inculcating values in students. The day also witnessed felicitation to the superannuated employees and achievers along with honoring the Doctorate holders.

The celebration approached towards its completion by vote of thanks which was proposed by the convener of the program and the HOD of Social work Dr. Bhavana V. The event was a grand success with the presence of 220+ teaching fraternity from all the sister institutions of Mahajana Education Society.
