Institutionalizing Governance-Governance Talk on ‘Strengthening Governance Through Youth Participation in Media’
On 4.10.2024, the Department Of Social Work, Grassroots Research and Advocacy Movement(GRAAM) Hanss Seidel Foundation (HSF), Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA) conducted a Governance Talk Special Lecture Series on Institutionalizing Governance-Governance Talk on ‘Strengthening Governance Through Youth Participation in Media’ in our PG centre campus

Youth’s historical role in governance: Speakers highlighted the significant impact of youth movements in various parts of the world, including the 70s-80s American youth movement and the recent student movement in West Bengal.
Media as a tool for accountability and reform: Panelists emphasized the power of media to hold governments accountable and drive social change. They discussed how social media can be a powerful platform for youth to mobilize and influence public opinion.
The importance of youth engagement: Experts stressed the need for youth to actively participate in governance and civic issues.They highlighted the importance of identifying individual strengths and channeling them effectively to contribute to national development.
The 3E concept: Dr. Basavaraju proposed the “3E” concept (Enlighten, Engage, Empower) as a framework for youth to leverage media to strengthen governance.
The event concluded with an interactive session, where students had the opportunity to ask questions and engage with the panelists.
