Purpose and scope of the event

  • The purpose of a poster presentation is to visually communicate a message and engage an audience. Poster presentations are commonly used to present research, writing, or developing work at academic and professional conferences. They can also be part of college assessments.
  • Posters can be viewed for multiple hours, and the viewer can move back and forth through the poster. They can also allow for more personal interaction with the audience.
  • Poster presentations offer a platform to share research findings, project outcomes, or innovative ideas with a broader audience. It allows researchers and presenters to showcase their work and contribute to the advancement of knowledge within their field.
  • Posters combine text, images, graphs, and other visual elements to convey complex information in an easily digestible format. Visual aids help engage the audience and make the content more understandable and memorable.
  • Presenting a poster at conferences or events provides an opportunity to interact with other researchers, professionals, and attendees. It encourages networking, facilitates discussions, and allows for valuable feedback from experts in the field.

Details on Poster Presentation

Poster Presentation was organised by the department of chemistry on December 19, 2024 from 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm on “Chemistry Nobel Prize Winners and their Invention” under the supervision of Dr. Roopa R. A., Dr. Manasa H. S. and Judged by Dr. Girish Chandran and Ms. Smitha Grace of Department of Life Science, PBMMEC at MTTM Auditorium, PG Centre, Mysuru.

The Rules and regulations for Poster Presentation Competition were given as:

  • The poster’s components should be organized logically.
  • The poster should be visually appealing and neat. It should have a good balance of visuals, text, and white space.
  • The poster should use graphics, color, and fonts effectively.
  • The poster’s title, figures, and graphs should be relevant to the content.
  • The poster’s layout should be easy to follow and focus on the message.
  • The poster should use proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • The poster should have a word count of about 300–800 words.
  • The poster’s title should be short and draw interest.

Totally 36 students of 16 groups from first and third semester were participated in the competition. The above mentioned rules and regulations were explained to the students.

The Poster Presentation was judged on the basis of the Clarity, Organization, Visual appeal, Graphics, Content, Layout, Language, Word count, Title on the topic given. Original thinking relative to the topic. The three best posters were selected and placed for the winner position.

  • First place –Group 8: Kavyashree L and Varshini D. S. (Third Semester)
  • Second place – Group 16: Uday .S and Rohith N. M. (First Semester)
  • Third Place – Group 7: Jeevan H. C. and Vinay Kumar S (Third Semester)
