Purpose and Scope of the event:

To provide the fundamental understanding and skill set to the incoming students of M.Sc. Biochemistry. The course included the basic skill development in the life sciences laboratory and the essential computer skills which will facilitate them for better platform presentation of seminars and project reports. These skill sets are invincible for a student of Master degree who is constantly expected to act up in the laboratories as well as during the course of the degree program. The bridge course was organized in association with the DoS in Computer Science.

Details of the talk/event/activity

Briefly, the syllabus included, Communication Skills, Public speaking, Biochemistry Laboratory Skills, Basic Computer Skills. Nearly half the time of the program was dedicated to the basic molar calculations in the Biochemistry laboratory, getting aquainted with the laboratory instruments they will be using in the due course. The other half of the program was organized at the DoS in Computer Science. The computer science faculty handled the latter part of the syllabus with the basic use of MS office and internet for the pubmed search.
