A Report on Guest Lecture –

“Data Analytics”

The Department of Studies in Computer Science organized a Guest Lecture on ‘Cloud Computing and DevOps’ for the III Semester MCA & M.Sc.(CS) Students at CS-03 Class Room, 1st Floor, Computer Science Department, Mysuru on 13th January, Friday.

Smt. Rachana C R, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Studies in Computer Science welcomed the gathering and introduced the resource person Mr. Vijayanand Gurudev, Entrepreneur, desiCloud, Mysuru. She also welcomed Mr. Sreenidhi G S D, Founder and CEO, Cynefian Pvt. Limited, Gundlupet.

Mr. Vijayanand Gurudev took over the session explained about Data Analytics. He played a video on Automatic Nigel Stanford. He gave the introduction of Data Analytics, Application, why analytics, approaches, benefits and the use cases. He explained the differences between Discovery and Invention. He explained the four steps to Data Interpretation.

He also mentioned that communication is important in Data Analytics for explaining, justifying, conveying, persuading and expressing.
Some of the Applications of Data analytics are:

• Transportation
• Logistics
• Search Engine
• Manufacturing
• Health care
• Defense

Data analytics is required for? Was the most interesting topic discussed during the lecture. The approach of Data Analytics is ‘Trend Analysis and Heat Map’. The benefits of Data Analytics are for decision making.
He also discussed some of the use cases such as,

• Indian Railway-Ticketing
• SKF Sealing Solution-Pareto/tea cup
• Mercedes Benz-Fraud detection
• UL DQS-Biscuit Analysis.

At the end he gave a chance for students to ask their doubts on Data Analytics. And he ended the session with question and answers and at last he played another video related to Data Analytics.
