Interactive Session: Career Opportunities for Company Secretary & Legal Advisor

The Department of Studies in Business Administration, Pooja Bhagavat Memorial Mahajana Education Centre in association with the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Mysuru organized the Interactive Session.

Purpose & Scope

The event aimed to provide final-year MBA students with insights into the career paths of a Company Secretary and a Legal Advisor. It sought to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry requirements by highlighting the roles, responsibilities, and career opportunities in these fields. Additionally, the session was designed to offer practical advice and networking opportunities to help students transition smoothly into their professional lives.

The Brief of the Event

The interactive session on “Career Opportunities for Company Secretary & Legal Advisor” was held on 25th July 2024 at the MTA Auditorium, PBMMEC, Mysuru. The session was well-attended by final-year MBA students who were eager to gain insights into the corporate legal world. The event commenced at 2:30 PM with a welcome address by Mr Srinivas Thimmaiah, Course Coordinator, Department of Studies in Business Administration, PBMMEC, who emphasized the importance of understanding various career options available to management students.
MsKeerthana, a distinguished Company Secretary and Legal Advisor at Mysore Steels, Mysuru, was the resource person for the session. She began with an engaging introduction to her professional journey, outlining her experiences and the challenges she faced in her career. MsKeerthana’s dynamic presentation covered a wide array of topics, including:

1. Roles and Responsibilities: She detailed the key duties of a Company Secretary, such as ensuring regulatory compliance, managing corporate governance, and advising the board of directors. Similarly, she explained the crucial functions of a Legal Advisor, including offering legal counsel, drafting and reviewing contracts, and handling litigation matters.
