Purpose and Scope of the event:
Intercollegiate life science quiz includes a wide range of topics related to life sciences. To promote interest and knowledge in life science among students and to provide a platform for them to showcase their skills. The intercollegiate Life Science Quiz was a successful event that brought together students from various colleges to compete and learn. The quiz encouraged students to pursue their interests in the field. The intercollegiate quiz competition was a resounding success, with enthusiastic participants from all teams. It provided a spirit of healthy competition and learning.
Details of the talk/event/activity
The Intercollegiate Life Science Quiz 2024 was organized on 19March 2024. Intercollegiate Life Science Quiz 2024 started with formal inauguration in the gracious presence of Dr.C.K. Renukarya, Director, Coordinators, Faculty members from various streams and participants fromvarious colleges.The Quiz Master Dr. Girish Chandran explained the rules and regulations of the quiz at the beginning. There were 4 judges and student volunteers. The judge’s decision was final. It was an interesting two-round competition, including objective questions with an options round. This was a preliminary round where 20 students participated, and 10 students were selected for the next round. The selected 10 students were made into groups of 2 for the buzzer and rapid-fire round which engaged the students for two hours. The students showcased their brilliance by rapidly answering the questions. Though some of the questions were very tricky, the teams tried to answer them with confidence. Although the teams participated actively, the team that scored the most was awarded first prize, followed by second, third and 2 consolation prizes.

Current research interest: With a comprehensive background in phytochemistry, enzyme kinetics and nutrigenomics, my expertise lies at the intersection of biochemistry and nutrition.
Doctoral research: When intake exceeds expenditure, a chronic energy imbalance poses perhaps the biggest risk to future health. This energy imbalance raises the risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease (CVD), non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), chronic renal disease, and several malignancies. Increases in AMP/ADP in comparison to ATP cause AMPK to become active in response to modifications in intracellular adenine nucleotide levels.

Target audience was M.Sc. Students, SBRR Mahajana First Grade College(A),Yuvaraja College and MMK SDM College for Women . There were totally 20 registered participants.
