Purpose and Scope of the event:

Apart from the academic guidance from the college, the students need to be equipped with the real skills which are highly sought after among the fresh recruits. Accordingly, industrial internships during the studies provides an excellent opportunity to learn and improve the state of the art, current trends in the techniques and skill sets. The internships provide the recruiters a chance to try novel ideas and nurture young talents which leads to potentiate the future employees or employers.

Details of the talk/event/activity

25 students of M.Sc. Biochemistry 3rd semester were offered Internship program at Citeworthy Lifesciences, Mysuru in the broad area of chemistry and life sciences. An assessment test was conducted and 2 first prizes and 2 second prizes were declared by the Citeworthy Lifesciences, Mysuru and presented the cash awards.

  1. Mr. Suhas Babu-First Prize:cash prize-Rs.5000;
  2. Ms. Ananya Bhatta-First Prize; cash prize-Rs. 5000;
  3. Ms. Sindhu JS-Second Prize; cash prize-Rs. 2000;
  4. Ms. Shanmuga Priya M-Second Prize-Rs. 2000;

Dr. C.K. Renukarya, Director, Pooja Bhagavat Memorial Mahajana Education Centre presided over the “Prize Distribution Ceremony”. Dr. S.R. Ramesh, Chief Scientist, School of Life Sciences congratulated the winners. Dr. Arpitha Ashok, Ms. Rayana Lavitha D’Silva and Dr. Girish Chandran were present.

A brief profile of the resource persons

Dr. Arpitha Ashok, M.Sc., Ph.D. (Biotechnology) from the University of Mysore; is the Managing Partner and Research Head, Citeworthy Lifesciences, Mysuru. She Specializes in life sciences techniques like mass spectroscopy, DNA and protein chemistry, as well as bioinformatics platforms for structure-function studies.

Target audience and number of participants/ beneficiaries
25 students of M.Sc. Biochemistry 3rd semester participated in the internship program test at Citeworthy Lifesciences, Mysuru.
