Purpose and scope of the event

  • The purpose behind to organize Quiz competition is to evaluate the knowledge of the participants within academics as well as beyond academics and to make them familiar with the prospects of quizzes and the objectivity of the questions.
  • With practicing quizzes, students can do critical thinking, and get into a habit of innovative learning. These quizzes integrate the game mechanics into the learning process, they help students understand the weaker areas.
  • Quizzes help students identify what they know and what they don’t know. The students then have a better idea of how well they are grasping the material, hopefully motivating them to study more and helping them allocate their study time effectively by focusing on the information that still needs more practice.
  • The main objective of quiz is to popularize quizzing activities among students and to encourage them to take part in all competitive examination at state and central level.
  • To instill our students the values of knowledge, wisdom and compassion to make them smart citizens.
  • To create a group of young minds with quizzing talent.
  • To lend hands to beginners and lead them to the world of knowledge.
  • To guide on specific areas of quizzing and encourage to participate in quiz competitions.
  • To encourage and conduct periodical quizzes on specific topics among the members of the club.
  • It promotes a healthy debate amongst participants in order to learn from each other.

Details of Quiz Competition

Quiz competition was organised by department of chemistry on June 13, 2025 from 10am to 4pm under the supervision of Dr. Roopa R. A., Dr. Manasa H. S and Mrs. Anitha R. at Life Science Auditorium and DOS in Chemistry, PG Centre, Mysuru. We followed some Rules and regulations for Quiz Competition.

Rules and regulations for the quiz competition

  1. Quiz competition consists of nine groups and three rounds.
  2. Each question carries one mark and one minute duration.(For all the 3 rounds)
  3. No passing questions in all three rounds.
  4. Round 1 and round 2 questions will be having options, only first answer is considered.
  5. Round 3 will not have options.
  6. No negative marks in all the rounds.
  7. Mobiles and other electronic gadgets are not allowed.
  8. If any malpractice is observed, that group will be disqualified.

Rules and regulations for Round 1

  • Four questions with options for each group
  • Six groups will be qualified for round 2based on total marks in round 1.
  • Free hit questions for tie breakers.

Rules and regulations for Round 2

  • Five questions with options for each group
  • Four groups will be qualified for round 3based on total marks in round 2.
  • Free hit questions for tie breakers

Rules and regulations for Round 3- Final round

  • Questions will be asked without options for each group.
  • Final two groups will be considered as winner and runner up.
  • Free hit questions for tie breakers.

Note: Department decision is final. Extra quires are not entertained.

The II and IV semester students were participated and exposed to glimpse of the different areas of Chemistry, likely Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry. Seven teams of 4 students from II and IV semester were participated. Quiz Competition was comprised of three rounds- Round 1, Round 2 and Round 3.

Round 1 was conducted based on Multiple Choice Questions with options and supervised by Dr. Roopa R. A. Students Participated with enthusiasm and six teams were selected for Round 2 based on the total marks scored. Three teams were eliminated in Round 1 and considered as disqualified.

In Round 2, six teams participated and performed very well. It was conducted based on Multiple Choice Questions with options and supervised by Dr. Manasa H. S. Four teams were selected for Round 3 based on the total marks scored. Two teams were eliminated and considered as disqualified.

In Round 3, four teams participated and gave their best for winning. It was conducted based on one word answer, Multiple Choice Questions with options and supervised by Dr. Roopa R. A. Two teams were eliminated based on the least marks and considered as disqualified. Two teams selected in Round 3 for winner and runner up. In the final round one team declared as winner and the other team as runner up.
