Purpose & Scope
The purpose of the Business Quiz Competition, Quizfinity 2K24, was to create a stimulating environment for business students and enthusiasts to demonstrate their knowledge and foster intellectual engagement in the realm of business. It aimed to promote critical thinking, quick decision-making, and a deeper understanding of various business domains, including entrepreneurship, sustainability, social governance, and current affairs. By engaging participants in a competitive yet collaborative environment, the quiz aimed to sharpen business acumen and inspire future business leaders to think innovatively and analytically.
The event’s scope extended beyond just a quiz competition. It sought to bridge the gap between theoretical business knowledge and practical real-world scenarios, making it a holistic learning experience for the participants. The competition was open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, providing them with a platform to exchange ideas, network with peers, and enhance their understanding of the global business landscape.
The Brief of the Event:
The Business Quiz Competition, Quizfinity 2K24, was organized by the Department of Studies in Business Administration in collaboration with two esteemed sponsors: Guru Fintaac Institute India Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru, and PatilBorewells and Constructions, Mysuru. Held on the 30th of April 2024, the competition aimed to bring together business enthusiasts from various educational institutions to test and enhance their knowledge in different facets of business.
The event followed a structured format with three progressive rounds designed to evaluate participants’ understanding of diverse business topics. The rounds encompassed key areas such as entrepreneurship, sustainability, social and corporate governance, and current business affairs. By focusing on quick decision-making and critical thinking, the competition challenged participants to think on their feet, apply theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios, and perform under pressure.
The quiz was conducted in an interactive application Kahoot. The event attracted enthusiastic participation, with 36 teams (72 participants) competing to showcase their business expertise. The competition concluded with three winning teams being recognized for their exceptional performance:
- Winners:Harsha Kumar and Syed Mohammad (ManasaGangotri, University of Mysore, Mysuru)
- Runners-up:Nayana and Akshata M.K (JSS CMS, Mysuru)
- Consolation Prize:Yashwant K and Lakshmi Mahanto (JSS Aher DHSMS, Mysuru)
The event succeeded in its objective of promoting learning and engagement in the business domain while providing participants with a valuable networking platform and exposure to real-world business challenges.
Resource Person Details:
The competition was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Wadiraj Kulkarni, Director – IT at Cyient DLM Ltd. (Formerly Rangsons Electronics Pvt. Ltd.). With over 33 years of professional experience in programming, Mr. Kulkarni has an impressive background in various programming languages and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, including SAP ECC 6.0, Progress (4GL, RDBMS), MFG/PRO, Microsoft Navision ERP, and S/4 HANA. His extensive knowledge spans across multiple industries, such as discrete and process manufacturing, distribution, finance, infrastructure, and retail.
Target Audience:
The event attracted a diverse group of participants, with 36 teams registering for the competition. Each team consisted of two members, bringing the total number of participants to 72. The participants represented various educational institutions, including undergraduate and postgraduate students from universities and colleges in and around Mysuru. The competition drew individuals with varied academic backgrounds but united by their shared interest in business studies.
