Department of Social Work (MSW) 0rganised Gender sensitization programme for M.Com Students on 17.03.2021.
On 17.03.2021 Dept. of Social work organized gender sensitization programme for M.com Students. 60 students were participated in the progamme,- Prof. Indira and Dr. Shanthi conducted the gender sensitization session and sensitized the students on Gender Issues, difference between gender and sex, gender stereo types. Also gave awareness on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention,. Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.
Social Work trainee educated the EkalavyaNagar slum children during post covid 19
Post Graduate Dept. of Social Work trainees post covied 19 Visited Ekalavya Nagara Slum areas and educated the slum children who were left out from school & also found to be slow learner due to impact of covid 19 pandemic and taught basics education to children.
Dept. of Social work organized 6 days Payroll management workshop in collaboration with HR Zone, Bangalore from 04.07.2022 to 09.07.2022
Dept. of Social work in collaboration with HR Zone, Bangalore, organized 6days workshop on Advanced Practical HR Training from 04.07.2022 to 09.07.2022. 08 students from MSW 13 MBA Students were participated in the workshop.
On the day of 04.07.2022 Advanced Practical HR Training was begun at 10am. Mr. Adharsh from HR zone Bangalore, in the morning session introduced the concepts i.e. Payroll Management: ESI & PF Calculation to the participants, afternoon session he practically demonstrated how ESI & PF Calculation will be done in excel sheet in the computer lab.
Day 2
The second day session begun with getting feedback and clarified the queries by the participants. Afterwards Mr. Adharsh from HR zone Bangalore, in the morning session introduced the Statutory Compliance: Compensation Management, afternoon session he practically demonstrated how Compensation will be paid to the employee when he leaving the organization and also paying compensation in case of industrial accident.
Day 3
On the day three, the session started at 10am, the resource person Mr. Adharsh from HR zone Bangalore, in the morning session he explain the participants concept of Time Office Management importance of Advance Excel Formulas training, in the afternoon session he practically demonstrated Advance Excel Formulas in computer lab.
Day 4
The day four session was started at 10am, the resource person Mr. Adharsh from HR zone Bangalore, in the morning session he explain the participants about the concept of Training and Development, how to file PT & IT returns, Full and Final Settlement, afternoon session he practically demonstrated how PT & IT returns will be prepared , Full and Final Settlement will be done using Advance Excel Formulas in computer lab.
Day 5
The day five Mr. Adharsh from HR zone Bangalore, in the morning session taught how the Corporate recruitment will be done, importance of Group Discussion, afternoon session he conducted Mock Interview, Group discussion using stimulation method to make participants to understand the same.
Day 6
The day six Mr.Veeresh , in the morning session he explained the participants various Labour Laws India, importance of labour legislation, also explain participants how the Compliance Management is done industry with practical examples,
After the first session, valedictory programme was held at 1pm Prof. C.K. Renukarya director, PBMMEC, Mysuru, Mr. Harsish Machaiah HOD, MBA PBMMEC, Mysuru, Mr. Adharsh,HR Zone Bangalore, Mr. Veersh HR manager, Dr. Bhavana V HOD, MSW, PBMMEC, Mysuru present in the programme. Guest lecture on lok adalat and legal aid on 02.06.2022 Resource Person: Sowmya, Advocate, Mysuru.
The post graduate department of social work organized Guest lecture on lok adalat and legal aid, the resource person Mrs. Sowmya, Advocate, Mysuru, in her lecture she emphasis Free Legal Services provided by NALSA/State Authority/District Authority which include Payment of court fee, process fees and all other charges payable or incurred in connection with any legal proceedings, Providing Advocate in a legal proceedings, Obtaining and supply of certified copies of orders and other documents in legal proceedings. She also spoke about eligible persons for getting free legal services which include Women and children, Members of SC/ST, Industrial workmen, Victims of mass disaster, violence, flood, drought, earthquake, industrial disaster, Disabled persons, Person in custody, Persons whose annual income does not exceed Rs. 1,00,000 Lawyers Chambers, Supreme Court of India, New Delhi for Supreme Court Cases. State Legal Services Authority: High Court Legal Services Committee situated at High Court Complex in every High Court for High Court cases. District Legal Services Authority situated in the District Courts Complex in every District.
Elder abuse awareness programme and signature campaign 25.06. 2022.
The post graduate department of social work organized faculty development programme on Elder abuse awareness programme and signature campaign on 25.06. 2022 in collaboration with help age India. Dr. Kantharaju, Mr. Sanjay and Prof. Renukarya were present in the proramme. Resource person Dr. Kantharaju spoke, each year hundreds of thousands of adults over the age of 60 are abused, neglected, or financially exploited. Abuse can happen in many places, including the older person’s home, a family member’s house, an assisted living facility, or a nursing home. Mr. Sanjay spoke about elderly abuse in India its forms i.e. Physical abuse, Emotional abuse, Neglect, Abandonment, Sexual abuse,Financial abuse so on, Prof. Renukarya delivered key note address and spoke about how elderly abuse can be prevented. After the programmme signature campaign held – all the guests, faculties and non teaching staff sign the campaign.
‘Lung Cancer awareness Programme’ On the occasion of Lung Cancer Awareness month held on 13. 11. 2021, Resource Person Dr. Srinivas K G.
The post graduate department of social work, PBMMEC, Mysuru in association with Bharath Hospital & institute of Oncology, organized ‘Lung Cancer awareness Programme’ On the occasion of Lung Cancer Awareness Month. The resource person Dr. K G Srinivas Said every six second, one person is dying due o tobacco related ailment in the country. Delivering a talk he opined cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide accounting nearly 10 million fatalities each year. There are over 200 types of cancers; breast cancer is the most common cancer in females and lung cancer is among males in the world. Dr. C K Renukarya suggested stop smoking and consuming all types of tobacco. Both active and passive smokers are equally exposed to the risk of cancers hence stopping smoking is very essential. Dr.Bhavana HOD (MSW) and Dr.Indushekara G V were present in the programme.
BASELINE HOUSE HOLD SURVEY REPORT IN ADOPTED VILLAGES UNDER UNNAT BHARAT ABHIYAN
BACKGROUND:
Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is the Flagship program of MHRD. It links Higher Education Institutions with a set of at least 5 villages as a participatory Institution. These institutions can contribute to the economic and social betterment of the villages adopted by them. To bring transformation in rural development processes by leveraging educational institutions to help build the architecture of an “Inclusive India”.
UBA Project Objectives
Vision: Unnat Bharat Abhiyan aims at integrated rural development models to be initiated by higher education institutions with the help of local governance and communities.
Mission: The Mission of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is to enable higher educational institutions to work with the people of rural and tribal people in identifying development challenges and evolving appropriate solutions.
Goals of UBA
- To build an understanding of the development a agenda within institutes of Higher Education and an institutional capacity and training relevant to national needs, especially those of rural India.
- To re-emphasize the need for field work, stake-holder interactions and design for societal objectives as the basis of higher education.
- To stress on rigorous reporting and useful outputs as central to developing new professions.
- To provide rural India and regional agencies with access to the professional resources of the institute education, especially those that have acquired academic excellence in the field of science, engineering and technology, and management.
- To improve development outcomes as a consequence of this research. To develop new professions and new processes to sustain and absorb the outcomes of research. 6. To foster a new dialogue within the larger community on science, society and the environment and to develop a sense of dignity and collective destiny.

Visit to Public Health Institute, B R Hills on 24.08.2022.
As a part of curriculum social work trainees visited to Vivekananda Girijana Kalyana Kendra (VGKK), B R Hills and Public Health Institute, B R Hills and, Chamarajanagara, District. Vivekananda Girijana Kalyana Kendra (VGKK) is committed to the holistic, sustainable development of tribal people, keeping in mind their socio-cultural background and their rights. VGKK is now 35 years old with development experiences from the Soligas and other tribes in Chamarajanagar, Karnataka and subsequent experiences with tribes in Arunachal Pradesh and other states. This experience has resulted in an integrated approach to tribal development with health, education, livelihoods and biodiversity conservations the means to sustainable development and empowerment.
On 30.07.2022 Department of social Work in association with Help Age India, Youth for Sava and Inner wheel organized Medical camp at Ekalavyanagar, Mysuru
Department of social work in association with Help Age India, Youth for Sava and Inner wheel organized Medical camp at Ekalavyanaga, Mysuru. During the camp with the help of Helpage India treats 100 patients, free medicines were distributed to the patients. Meanwhile, during the camp inner wheel organization distributed the steel Plates and Glass to the 50 children who are going to school as expressed by the community. Youth for sava organization members were also involved as volunteer in the programme.
Orientation visits to Manasadhara NGO
As part of the curriculum students of Dept. of social work visited Manasadhama an NGO for orientation visit located at Chikkalli ,off T Narsipura road Mysore. It has a capacity to house 30 members. It is a Home for the homeless mentally ill Men. Rescue, Rehabilitate and Reintegration are the 3 major activities of Manasadhama. We have Transit Care Centre -for homeless mentally ill men where they will be provided with food, accommodation and psychiatric treatment after rescuing from the streets of Mysore and nearby cities
Orientation visits to Bhasavamarga De-Addiction Centre
As part of the curriculum students of Dept. of social work visited Bhasavamargha De-Addiction Centre for orientation visit. Basava Marga was founded in 2017. Organization had grown into a one of the largest rehabilitation center in the country with best facilities and programmes with personal care and supreme medical facilities. Basava Marga organization has scaled up into a major treatment center. Basava Marga awareness meetings, workshops, training camps are very popular in many states.
Dr. Bhavana and Dr. Indushekara G V Faculties to present a paper in Two days National Policy workshop on ‘ATMA NIRBHAR BHARATH: SOCIAL AND SOLIDARITY ECONOMY AND TRIBAL DEVELOPMENT
Centre for Inclusive Growth and Development Research Trust @ Mysuru and Mahajana First Grade College (Autonomous ), Jayalakshmipuram Mysuru, Anthropological Survey of India (Gol), Kolkata, Funded Two day National Policy workshop on ‘ATMA NIRBHAR BHARATH: SOCIAL AND SOLIDARITY ECONOMY AND TRIBAL DEVELOPMENT held on 21st July 2022 to 22nd July 2022. Dr. Bhavana and Dr. Indushekara G V Faculties presented a paper on Government Programmes and their impact on Tribal development and Sustainable tribal Development respectively.
Dr. Indushekara G V conducted a workshop on Free Legal Aid and woman Rights for SKDRDP staff members at SKDRDP, Mysuru on 22.06.2022. SHG members were participated in the programmes.
Department of social work organised Palliative Care Awarness Program as a part of Faculty development Programme on 10.089.2022.
On 10.09.2022 Department of social work as a part of Faculty development Programme organised Palliative Care Awarness Program in association with Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM). Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM) initiated the Palliative Care Program in 2009, as a continuum of care for people living with HIV. It also initiated the State’s first comprehensive Palliative Care Program on a Public Private Partnership model at Mysore Medical College and Research Institute. The Resource person Ms. Nandhini gave brief information about Palliative Care initiative by SVYM, Mysuru. Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM), in association with Mysore Medical College & Research Institute (MMC&RI), Mysuru, recently dedicated its Palliative Care Centre to the citizens. SVYM’s Palliative Care Programme has provided free home-based care for more than 700 people from marginalised community since its inception in 2009. This service has now been extended to offer institutional Palliative Care in a 16-bed Centre. she stressed on the fact that Palliative care is the active total care applicable from the time of diagnosis, aimed at improving the quality of life of patients and their families facing serious life-limiting illness, through the prevention and relief of suffering from pain and other physical symptoms as well as psychological, social and spiritual distress through socially acceptable and affordable interventions.
