Understanding cervical cancer and observance of Human Papiloma Virus awareness day
The Department of Social Work, IWC of Mahajana PG centre in collaboration with the Public health research institute, Mysuru had organized an awareness programme on “Understanding cervical cancer and observance of Human Papiloma Virus awareness day” on 04.04.2024 in the PBMMEC campus for the girl students an female staff of the PG centre. The Programme aimed to educate and empower female students about the importance of cervical cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment.
Dr. Vijaya Srinivas, Senior clinical research physician, PHRI Mysuru was the resource person. The programme commenced with a formal inauguration and the guests were welcomed by Dr. Bhavana, Asst professor and head of Social Work department and President of Innerwheel club of Mahajana PG centre. The session was led by the speaker Dr. Vijaya Srinivas. Topics covered included the causes of cervical cancer, the significance of regular screenings, available vaccination programs, and methods of prevention. Mrs. Poornima Jayakrishna, Administrative officer, PHRI Mysuru and team of PHRI were present in the programme.
The response to the Programme was overwhelmingly positive. Students expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn and engage in meaningful discussions about women’s health. Beyond knowledge, the programme fostered a sense of community and support among participants, paving the way for ongoing dialogue and solidarity.
