A Report on RHA – Red Hat Academy and Career Path to IT Automation Webinar in association with IPSR Solutions Ltd on 6th August 2020

The Webinar was conducted by Red Hat to understand how Red Hat Training and Certifications will help you to build our IT career. Red Hat, Inc. is an American multinational software company and is the world’s leading provider of enterprise open source solutions, using a community-powered approach to deliver high-performing Linux, Cloud, Container, and Kubernetes technologies. Red Hat certification – RHCE is the world’s hottest IT certification over years. IPSR is the world’s leading Red Hat Training & Certification partner with 35 National & International awards. IPSR has produced the highest number of Red Hat professionals in the world.

The session started with the introduction of the speaker, Mr. Ramesh Padmanabhan, Director – Global Learning Services (GLS) India & SAARC Red Hat India. The speaker gave an introduction regarding the foundation of Red Hat, No. of Employees in Red Hat, CEO of Red Hat, no. of Products/Solutions, no. of Courses and no. of Certifications. Speaker explained how Red Hat is contributing to the aspects of software stack, from the operating system and developer toolchain to middleware, desktop and cloud such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Virtualization, Red Hat OpenStack Platform, Red Hat Middleware, Red Hat Storage, Red Hat Cloud Forms etc. The speaker briefed about the Red Hat – GLS(Global Learning Services) – Ways of Training as Classroom Training, On-site Training, Virtual Training, Video Classroom, Red Hat Subscription, Online Learning and Ways of Testing such as Classroom Exam, Individual Test, Remote Exam. Introduction about Linux explained as how Linux is the faster growing OS, kernel and open source software. Speaker briefed about thze popular Linux Distributers like debain, ubuntu, fedora, openSUSE and Red Hat. The Speaker mentioned the difference between the Windows and Linux platform with some criteria’s regarding security, programming, software updates, Community support, reliability and advantage of Linux Platform. The speaker explained why Linux is powerful than any other operating system and why company switch to Linux Platform and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 is the OS for developer side which supports for technologies for automation, cloud, containers, middleware, storage, application, virtualization and more like Any cloud Any workload and One OS.

Speaker described regarding the career path for Linux as it’s not just one type of job, Linux supports for so many job streams like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Cybersecurity, IoT, Cloud Computing, DevOps & System Engineer, Full Stack Developer, Blockchain, Virtual & Augmented Reality, Software Engineer, Edge Computing, Robotics, System Administrators & Network Engineer. Speaker also briefed about the Skills Companies need most in 2020 for Soft Skills – Creativity, persuasion, Collaboration, Adaptability, Emotional intelligence and for Hard Skills – Blockchain, Cloud Computing, Analytical reasoning, Artificial Intelligence, UX design, Business analysis, Sales, Video production and so on. With few examples, speaker briefed the specific sectors and its corresponding companies such as Internet sector – Companies like NETFLIX, amazon, Finance sector – companies like HDFC, SBI, Online Food Delivery sector – Companies like Zomato, Uber Eats, Product Development sector – companies like Tally, Microsoft etc. Speaker described the importance of Red Hat Certification as possibility of getting hired is high, job retention, promotion, network opportunities, professional credibility, personal goal, professional and corporate requirement. Speaker demonstrated with an architecture regarding the 5 year Growth in the career from Software Engineer/ Administrator to CIO/CEO/Sr. Director based on people & project and system & Services. Speaker mentioned about the Red Hat Services provided by Red Hat company such as Red Hat – Open Innovation Labs, Red Hat Consulting, Red Hat Training + Certification and Red Hat Support Services for individuals. Speaker also explained the career path of a Software Engineer to Chief Technology Officer with specific years of experience. With some real time examples, speaker briefed about how world runs smarter with Linux and Linux skills are in demand as employees are seeking open source talent – 89% of hiring managers find it difficult to find Open source talent, so 50% of hiring managers are more likely to hire a certified professional as it is an added advantage to a candidate. With a scenario, speaker explained the importance of value add in our jobs. The benefits of Red Hat Certification is certified employee ramp up faster, stay longer and perform better i.e. 38% Faster, 15% Longer and 10% Greater. Speaker demonstrated software engineer jobs vacancies in India using Linkedin.com. After presentation there was a Question and Answer session, were the speaker clarified the doubts of the students and at the end of the session they took feedback with a Quiz included in the feedback form. The top 10 candidates who score full marks in Quiz will get a Goodie bag to their respective colleges.
