A Report on Guest Lecture –

“Cloud Computing and DevOps”

12th January 2023

The Department of Studies in Computer Science organized a Guest Lecture on ‘Cloud Computing and DevOps’ for III Semester MCA & M.Sc(CS) Students at CS-03 Class Room, 1st Floor, Computer Science Department, Mysuru on 12th January, Thursday.
Smt. Rachana C R, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science Department welcomed the gathering and introduced the resource person – Mr. Sreenidhi G S D, Founder and CEO, Cynefian Pvt. Limited, Gundlupet. She also welcomed Mr. Vijayanand Gurudev, Entrepreneur, desiCloud, Mysuru on the occasion.

Mr. Sreenidhi G S D took over the session. He gave a brief idea about Cloud Computing and DevOps to the students. He addressed the gathering about the differences between buying and renting and how it is related to the concept of Cloud Computing. He also gave brief information about Cloud Computing, the services of Cloud Computing, modes of Cloud Computing, SaaS, PaaS, IaaS. He even explained what mode of cloud we should prefer. He spoke about AWS Snowflake truck and how Cloud Computing is eco-friendly. He even pointed out the disadvantages of Cloud computing. Some of them listed below,

• Internet is a must.
• Data security is at risk.
• Lack of critical support.
• If unchecked, cost can add up very quickly.

Later he explained the students about DevOps and the seven pillars of DevOps. They are:

• Exploration
• Integration
• Deployment
• Testing
• Delivery
• Monitoring
• Security

He also explained the methodologies of Cloud Computing. Later the students interacted.
At the end of the session Smt. Yashaswini J, Assistant Professor, DoS in Computer Science proposed the vote of thanks.

Around 57 students participated in the programme.
