The Department of Social Work at PBMMEC campus organized a comprehensive Traffic Awareness Programme for students on 15.12.2023. The aim of the event was to educate students about the importance of road safety, instill responsible driving habits, and raise awareness about the consequences of traffic violations.

Objectives:

  • Educate on Road Safety: To provide students with essential knowledge about road safety rules, regulations, and best practices.
  • Promote Responsible Driving: To encourage responsible and ethical behavior among students when driving or commuting.
  • Raise Awareness about Traffic Violations: To make students aware of the potential consequences of traffic violations and the importance of following traffic laws.

Highlights of the programme:

The Speaker: Inspector Lava, Police Inspector, Mysore Traffic division, VV puram Police station was the resource person. The speaker discussed the current state of road safety in our Mysuru city, highlighted common traffic violations, and emphasized the need for a collective effort in promoting responsible driving. Interactive session: The speaker made sure that the audiences were engaged throughout the programme by his interactive speech. Students also participated in the session actively.

Poster making competition: The department organized a poster making competition to encourage creativity and active participation among students. The themes focused on promoting road safety, responsible driving, and the prevention of traffic violations. The inner wheel club of Mahajana PG centre sponsored 3 prizes for the event.

A brief profile of the resource persons:

Inspector Lava, a 2005 batch PSI has worked as Psi in Talakadu police station, KR Nagar Police, Hunsur and Bilikere Police station. He got promoted as Police Inspector in 2016 and has worked as circle inspector in KR nagar, T narasipura and now from August 2023, he is serving as a Police inspector- Traffic division VV puram Police station, Mysuru

Target audience and No. of Participants/beneficiaries: Students of PG centre were the target audience. 173 students of Chemistry, Life Sciences, Commerce and Social Work Departments participated in the programme
