The purpose of the event was to deliberate on the job opportunities available in the field of production, quality assurance, quality control and other sectors of Biotech, Pharma and Chemical Manufacturing Industries

The biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry produces drugs and other products that help people and animals live healthier lives, recover from injuries, and fight illnesses. The industry is home to cutting-edge biological and chemical research and offers opportunities for people across a wide spectrum of careers from scientists, physicians, and engineers to marketing and sales workers, financial analysts, and other business professionals. Employers range from large established companies with many approved drugs and medical devices on the market, to newer firms with products in development but not on the market, to generic drug manufacturers. The top 10 pharmaceutical companies account for 60 per cent of total sales. Most biotech companies are small, research-oriented companies dedicated to applying genetics and other biological systems to curing disease. Some of the large pharmaceutical companies are acquiring the small biotech companies thus blurring the dividing line between the two industries. Typical bachelor-level opportunities include both research and business roles, particularly in sales, marketing, operations, and finance. Dr. Aditya Rao S.J, Business Associate & Training Coordinator, GRBS Pvt. Ltd., Doddaballapura, Bengaluru is an M.Sc. Ph.D. with a Doctoral Degree in Biotechnology (2016) from Kuvempu University, India with a thesis title Evaluation of Phytoconstituents and their Pharmacological Activities in some Morus Species. His technical expertise includes Computational Biology and Cheminformatics: protein sequence prediction from MALDI-TOF, & Ms-Ms, protein structure modelling, Protein network analysis, protein pathway prediction, molecular dynamics (MD) simulation, molecular docking, lead compound identification and validation in drug discovery, ligand library construction, in-silico toxicology and pharmacology, implementation and development of tools and methods for different Bioinformatics data analysis. Bioanalytical techniques and Pharmacology: Biochemical analysis, isolation and characterization of bioactive compounds, chromatographic techniques, spectroscopic analysis (FT-IR, LC-MS and NMR), anticancer studies on the murine cell line, in-vitro cytotoxicity assay, anti-inflammatory studies, anthelmintic, antimicrobial and antioxidant studies.
