Management Challenges in the increasingly VUCA environment with a particular focus on Innovation

The Department of Studies in Business Administration at the Pooja Bhagavat Memorial Mahajana Education Centre-Post Graduate Wing had organized a Presentation on “Management Challenges in the increasingly VUCA environment with a particular focus on Innovation” on Monday, January 02, 2023 by Dr. Natarajan Ramachandran.

The presentation was mainly aimed at enhancing the abilities and perspectives of the students in understanding how the world is moving rapidly and how as Business Managers, one has to imbibe the vital dimensions of Innovation to take on challenges posed by an acknowledged VUCA environment. Dr. Natarajan Ramachandran, a professional and expert in the area of Decision Sciences and Innovation led Quality in Operations Management from the Tennessee Tech University, USA was the Chief Guest. The Head of the MBA Department Prof. Harish Machia delivered the welcome address and introduce the Chief Guest. The Honorary Secretary of Mahajana Education Society, Dr. Smt. Vijayalakshmi Muralidhar presided over the event and the day was honoured by the presence of Shri Muralidhar Bhagavat, President of MES, and Dr. CK Renukarya, Director of the PG Centre.

The presentation took the hall full of eager students on the way forward and how to strategically align their thinking and performing with the changes happening all around us. The event began with a soulful rendering of our State Anthem by the students followed by a traditional lighting of the Lamp by the dignitaries. The presentation that was for 90 minutes was well received by the audience who were taken on a learning journey of inventions, innovations and investments and the intelligence and insights needed to address the dimensions of Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity that can be seen and felt in everything that is happening. Dr. Natarajan used various examples, caselets and grids to drive home the need for thriving.
He stressed on the aspect of how creative destruction will play a vital role in enhancing the prosperity indices of nations.

11He touched upon the dimensions and critical contributions of systematic innovation approaches to address various problems and challenges facing organisations and countries across the world. He took the students on how distinct phases of inventions carefully applied to commercial exploitation changed the living standards in the world especially over the last 300 years.

In her Presidential address, Dr. Vijayalakshmi Muralidhar stressed upon the need for us to stay constantly updated about developments in the field and to have more such sessions and interactions. Chandana offered a Vote of Thanks followed by rendering of our National Anthem by the Team of Faculty.

The program was a success and the hallmark was the brilliant teamwork displayed by the faculty members and all the students.
