One day hands on workshop on qRT-PCR

in collaboration with Karnataka Science and Technology Academy (KSTA) Govt of Karnataka, Bangalore.
The Workshop was organized with an objective to familiarize with knowledge of qRT-PCR and its working principle, the program comprised of two sessions theory session and the practical session. The workshop coordinator was Dr. Mahadesh Prasad A.J. Professor, DoS in Biochemistry. He was assisted by Dr. Girish Chandran and Ms. Rayana Lavitha D Silva.
In the first session Dr. Harish Srinivasan explained the basic principles of PCR, aimed at giving participants a deep and objective understanding of real-time quantitative PCR, digital-PCR, expression profiling, data analysis and their applications in various fields of molecular diagnostics. The workshop was intended for academic or industrial researchers considering working with qPCR or scientists currently working with these technologies who seek a deeper understanding. This hands-on workshop is aimed at providing comprehensive basic knowledge of the techniques, hands-on experience of qPCR based diagnostic, gene expression (absolute and relative) analysis in clinical samples, data collection and analysis.
The event was a successful one with 12 participants.
A brief profile of the resource persons
Dr. Harish Srinivasan, senior Field Application specialist in Biorad Laboratories. Qualification: PhD with prestigious DAAD fellowship in cancer proteomics from German cancer research centre, Heidelberg, Germany. Area of interest: RTPCR, Bioplex and Chromatography.
Target audience were faculties of UG and PG Life Sciences, Pooja Bhagavat Memorial Mahajana Post Graduate Centre, PG Wing of SBRR Mahajana First Grade College, Mysore and No. of Participants were 20.
