ORIENTATION VISIT TO DON-BOSCO MAKKALALAYA

Don bosco makkalalaya is a community oriented program of Mysore. (Don Bosco society reg no, 121/89-90) organized for child Labors, School dropout and unemployed youth. It is based on the education for all policy of UNESCO and the right to education act RTE of the Government of India. From the department of Social work, we had been to don bosco makkalalaya. On 28/11/23 from the department of social work we had been to Don bosco makkalalaya. To know about the organizational Set up, Infrastructure facilities provided to the children and to know about various projects conducted by Don Bosco makkalalaya. Father Siju Director of Don Bosco gave brief knowledge about Don-Bosco; His vision and mission for the poor and unaccompanied children and youth. Don Bosco was born on 16th August 1815 in the turning Italy. He lost his father at the age of 2 his mother. Margaret accompanied him to realize his mission. He experienced the power of divine all through his life. His great desire is to spend his entire life working for the poor and a company children and youth. After his death in 1888, His students continued his mission today. His followers are working in one thirty two countries through a global network of eighteen seventy three centers reaching out to fifteen million children and youth. And further continued by saying about the projects like:-

Educational stream: – As there is a high dropout rate Add the secondary and PUC level of education due to various factors, and this can be checked through distant education. The above mentioned programme of Don boscomakkalalaya aims at reaching those who are left out of the formal education mode. The academic staffs in our institution teach and motivate these students to work hard and pass accessories and PUC so that the students can grow up with much more opportunities in life.

Skill training: – Don boscomakkalalaya initiated the Skill training program to enhance productivity proficiency and improbability of Youngsters. Components of the skill training programs are:-

1. Personality development: It is a part of our skill training programme. As it prepares, students to become effective leaders, better team players and it will help them to develop their social skills and express their thoughts with clarity.
2. Computer training: – Almost everything every job today and jobs of the future requires customs, computer literacy and operation skills
3. Spoken English: – It’s a Skill Enhancement that allows students to broaden their world from job opportunities to expansion of one social network at work.

Basic Literacy Program: – It’s an initiative by Don Bosco Makkalalayato improve students; research level for those who have not learnt to read, write and comprehend the basic text. Effective electricity skills open the doors to more educational and employment opportunity. So students can’t pull themselves out of poverty and chronic Under employment .

Foster care: – Family is the most conducive and Ambient for a child to grow up. Childcare institution must be seen as the last resort when a child loses the biological family.

Fostercare programs held at Donbosco makkalalaya as follows:-

1. Advocating for foster care through awareness creation for all in collaboration with the woman and child department.
2. Frosted care being a new concept of offering an alternative family care for children. It needs to be made known to the society
3. I’ve only said about a foster care is conducted for DCPU and its tough childware. Child welfare committee members, special juvenile police unit,elected members of panchayat, non-government organization. Police department childcare institutions, community organization, women’s health groups, community leaders, schools and teachers, religious, the general public, etc., also explains how the process carried out for place in children in foster care.
4. Training on foster care to the prospective foster parents and foster children on its possible government. Rules, regulation and legal procedures
5. Conducting home and guarantee for prospective foster payments do evaluate and reality their socio-economic requirements.
6. Referring the needy children and prospective foster parents to child welfare committee and the district child protection unit of the government of Karnataka for the independent enquiry and counseling and follow up of the legal procedure which are integral part of the project

Don Bosco has created awareness about this project in 4taluks of the district of Mysore which include K.R Nagar taluk,T.N Pura taluk, H.D kote taluk and Mysore taluk.

The visit was veryuseful where we learnt DON-BOSCO is the shelter for all the people who are in need and make their life valuable and secure though they don’t have biological family.
