On the 26th of Oct 2021, a press meet was held by the Department of Tourism and Hospitality at Pathrakartara Bhavana in Mysore.
The press meet was regarding 15 Students of Tourism & Hospitality Course from Mahajana PG Centre got final Placement in Swagat Gourment, New Jersey, USA.The press meet attended by DR. T Vijaylakshmi Muralidhar, Hon Secretary MES, Dr C K Renukarya, Director Mahajana PG Centre, Dr B R Jaykumari, Principal, MFGC, Dr Satish G Chetty, Professor & Head, Department of Tourism and Hospitality and Mr. Ravi K Iyer, Head & Assistant Professor Department of Journalism & Mass communication.
Out of 15 students 5 are from MTTM, 10 are from BTH. They have got a job at Swagath Gourment a leading hotel company in New Jersey, which is run by Indian origin businessmen.
Mahajana Education Society (MES) Secretary Dr. Vijayalakshmi Muralidhar told the media “these courses are specialised and our Karnataka state students can pursue such courses. Now other state students are also reaping benefits from our academic infrastructure.”
Post Graduation wing, Director C K Renukarya said intake for UG Tourism and Hospitality program is about 60, but mere 20% of students within Karnataka opt for this job and skill-oriented course. Our first sets of students are directly picked up from the campus by New Jersey Company (USA).
Dr Satish G Chetty, Professor & Head, Department of Tourism and Hospitality said our student’s confidence level is low. But they have lot of potential, our academics can improve their skills and confidence. Now the aviation industry is booming and the students can take courses and get attractive jobs. We take students to airports and field visits as it helps them to gain more practical knowledge.
