*’FINANCIAL VALUATION AND MODELING’*_(Hands on Session)_
From 14th September to 16th September, 2023.
Purpose and scope of the event:
To train the participants in financial valuation and modeling and to orient them to be industry ready and academic research.
Introduction:
A 3-Day national level workshop on Financial Valuation and Modeling was organized by Department of Studies in Business Administration, Pooja Bhagavat Memorial Mahajana Education Centre, K R S Road, Metagalli, Mysuru – 570 016, from 14th September to 16th September,2023. The purpose and scope of the event was to train the students in financial valuation and modelling. This workshop was aimed at students to become industry ready.
The national level workshop was inaugurated by Dr. C.K Renukarya, Director, PBMMEC was the chief guest of the event. The Head of the Department of Business Studies, Prof Harish Machia Kodandera delivered a brief note about the workshop.35 Participants from various regions of Karnataka were part of this workshop and were all present at the inauguration.
Day-1: 14th September 2023
The resource person for day-1 was Dr Srinivas K. R, Assistant Professor, DoS in Business Administration, PBMMEC. He is also the Founder, Director and Trainer at FINTAAC Institute India Pvt. Ltd.
Dr Srinivas K. R commenced the session with focus on the “Orientation to Financial Statements,” providing participants with a foundational understanding of financial reports. Students were taught to analyze financial ratios, Altman Z score, Benish score, and Piotroski F score.
Day-2: 15th September 2023
On the day 2, Dr. Srinivas K R continued the workshop. The main theme of Day 2 was “Analysis of Financial Statements,” equipping participants with the tools to decipher financial data effectively. Participants were taught about valuation of securities, relevance of time value of money in valuation, valuation of equity, debt and derivatives Participants were trained in finding the condition of the company, how long it can survive and sustain in the industry.
Day-3: 16th September 2023
The final day of the workshop, Day 3, featured Dr. V Rajesh Kumar, Professor and Dean at the School of Commerce and Management, Chanakya University, Bangalore. Dr. Rajesh Kumar’s sessions were dedicated to “Corporate Valuation using DCF Method” and “Corporate Restructuring.” He discussed and explained the various models related to calculation of free cash flows, growth rate, Cost of capital etc.
His expertise provided participants with insights into advanced financial modeling techniques and corporate finance strategies especially in Mergers and acquisition, calculation of swap ratio using Conn & Nielson Model.
Conclusion
After the sessions, the workshop was concluded by the vote of thanks by Soujanya A, 2nd Semester, MBA., student convener, and was co-ordinated by Pooja J, 4th Semester, MBA, student convener The participants expressed their delight about the workshops. Some participants even expressed how it has benefited them form attending this workshop. Later the Workshop conveners Dr. Preethi Mand Dr. Aniruddha S Rao, distributed the certificates to participants upon successful completion of workshop.
