Details of the department organizing the event in collaboration with institution:

Department of Studies in Computer Science (MCA & MSc. Computer Science) in association with Startup Grit Business Circles Pvt. Ltd, Mysuru.

Purpose and Scope of the event:

  • The workshop aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of Internet of Things (IoT) technology and its applications. This includes exploring how IoT is used to connect and manage various devices and sensors to collect and exchange data.
  • Students will learn how DevOps methodologies can enhance the development, deployment, and management of IoT applications and devices.
  • The workshop intends to offer hands-on experience and practical insights into developing and managing IoT applications, also Analyze the real-world case studies.
  • The workshop includes interactive sessions and hands-on labs to provide participants with practical experience.

Details of the Workshop:

The resource persons focused and explained the following:

  • Traits of an Entrepreneurial Mindset: Willingness to Embrace Risk, Cultivation of Innovation. Flexibility and Adaptability, Foresight and Vision. Tenacity and Persistence. Ability to Bounce Back (Resilience), Proactive Orientation, Skillful Networking, Resourceful Problem-Solving, Dedication to Customer Satisfaction (Customer-Centric), Commitment to Lifelong Learning.
  • DevOps (Combination of Software Development and Its Operations): The Primary Goal of DevOps is to achieve Faster and more reliable Software Delivery through Automation, Collaboration & Continuous Feedback Loops.
  • DevOps Encompasses the Following Key Elements: Collaborative Practices, Automation Strategies, Seamless Continuous Integration, Efficient Continuous Deployment, Utilization of Infrastructure as Code, Vigilant Monitoring and Constructive Feedback, Adoption of Micro services and Containers, Emphasis on Cultural Transformation, Iterative Feedback Loops and Robust Security Measures.
  • Organizations That Successfully Implement DevOps Principles Often Experience Increased Agility, Reduced Time-to-Market, Improved Collaboration, & Higher Quality Software Releaser.
  • Example for DevOps – Cloud Computing: We can store huge amount of data which will be in cloud so wherever required we can fetch the information this allows them to automate the creation, modification & management of resources in a consistent & repeatable manner.
  • IoT (internet of things): network of interconnect physical devices, objects, vehicles, buildings, and other items embedded with sensors, software, & network connectivity that enable them to collect & exchange data.
  • The goal of IoT is to enable devices to communicate & interact with each other & with central systems over the internet, leading to enhanced automation, data analysis and improved decision-making.
  • Essential principles and elements of loT encompass: Interconnected Devices, Gathering and Managing Data, Seamless Connectivity. Comprehensive Data Processing and Analysis, Streamlined Automation, Remote Manipulation, Intelligent Environments, Addressing Challenges such as Security and Privacy, Transition from Industrial to loT Paradigm, Integration of Edge Computing and Vigilant Environmental Monitoring
  • Example for IoT- Smart Home:
Smart thermostat: devices like the nest thermostat learn users schedules & adjust temperatures to save energy.
Smart lighting: lights that adjust brightness & color based on occupancy, time of day & user preferences.
Smart appliances: refrigerators that track food inventory & expiration dates & ovens that can pre-heate remotely.
  • Students developed the IoT system using ArduinoESP8266. ESP8266 is a low-cost WiFi module that belongs to ESP’s family which you can use it to control our electronics projects anywhere in the world.
  • Using the resource person’s GitHub profile, students downloaded and customized code to read data from sensors including Motion, Ultrasonic, Light, and Temperature sensors. The collected sensor data is stored in the cloud for subsequent analysis through virtual communication between the IoT model and the cloud infrastructure.
  • Students showcased their developed IoT model and provided a detailed explanation of its functionality to II semester MCA students.
