Master of Commerce
Department of Studies in Commerce was started in the year 2002. It is offering M.Com (Master of Commerce) a four semester programme under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). The CBCS is an advanced mode of learning in higher education wherein a student has freedom in selecting his/her own choices in the curriculum for completing a Master’s degree programme. CBCS facilitates the learning process to move from teacher centric to student centric education.
The curriculum is designed by considering the requirements of the industry. In the last one decade of existence of the department our students have made a mark in their academic activities and careers. The department is providing quality education in terms of theory and practice. Periodical seminars, guest lecture from subject experts, poster presentations, Quiz competitions and conferences are arranged for providing insights and exposure to the students.

- National Seminar on “Crisis in Indian Banking Sector-Issues and Concerns” was held on 28th September 2018. The seminar was inaugurated by Dr. Krishnaswamy Deputy General Manager, Kolkata Note Mudranalaya, RBI. Several researchers have presented their research papers in the technical sessions. These research papers were published as seminar proceedings in the journal. Panel discussion was also a part of the seminar where resource persons from Banking industry were the panalists.

- Ranjan Ganesh of II Year M. Com Student of Mahajana PG Centre has won three Prizes in the 100mtrs, 200mtrs and 4*100 Relay Running Competitions held at Mandya under the aegis of Mysore University Inter collegiate competitions 2016-17 on 22nd to 24th Oct. 2016.
- Rakshith R won the First prize in the Finance event Wall-Street in the event of State Level Man-Com Fest 2016 held at JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Mysuru on 2nd and 3rd of March 2016.

- Jayanth S O and Nagendra Guptha won First Prize in Finance event in the Man-com Fest held at Cauvery College Gonikoppa during February 2016.
- Micro Insurance awareness and Enrolment programme on 20th, 25th and 28th April 2016 in 4 villages (Bettalgehundi, Chikkundi, Hegdahalli and Kaggere) Resource person Dr. Varsha M.P. Managing Director, Credit Eye, provided the information on various Micro Insurance schemes which is introduced by the State and Central Government to the villagers. Students as well as faculties also participated in this programme.

New Age Innovation Network (NAIN)/ District Innovation Hub (DIH)
NAIN (now renamed as DIH) is a Skill Development Program launched under the startup policy 2015-20 by the KITS, Government of Karnataka motivating the graduate students to convert their ideas into prototypes and build their careers in entrepreneurship in Tier 2 and 3 cities in the state. The DIH was established in 2017-18 at the SBRR Mahajana First Grade College, Mysuru, which focuses on creating an ecosystem to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the students who are pursuing their degrees in the college. The students studying in different disciplines in the college are motivated by mentoring, developing & project funding so as to set up their own startups or self employment. The Government of Karnataka will provide the funding to the approved projects up to a maximum of Rs.3,00,000/- (Three Lakhs Rupees Only) per project under the NAIN-Student Project Funding scheme.
Library:
A library has been established exclusively for meeting the requirements of M.Com students. The library consists of recent editions of valuable reference books and projects. Apart from these the library subscribes to national and international journals, e-journals, magazines, news papers and other news and information aids such as videos, CDs etc., for enhancing the academic and practical excellence of the students.
Computer Lab and Internet:
The department is well equipped with computer laboratory and an exclusive high speed internet with Wi-Fi facility. The facilities include full network with high configuration and workstation operating on windows 2010 (Server) and operating systems in vista and windows XP. Multimedia. The new Accounting software such as Tally ERP 9 and SPSS has been installed.
Placement:
An exclusive placement cell exists which actively works with the corporate world to help students to find placements. Some regular recruiters in the campus are: E & Y, ICICI, Global Automation India Private Limited, IDBI, HP, Wipro ITC, ACC, Stock Market Institute, Vodafone, Geojit, Ion Idea, ING Vysya Bank, Hypermarket India Pvt. Ltd., Mphasis, Ujjivan, Vruksh, Mast Kalandar, Peak Alpha, and Tommy Hilfiger.
Personal Development Plan (PDP):
Each year the department chalks out a learning design for the students on their personal development plan which consists of personality development, EQ, motivation and soft skills. These programmes are executed by the experts in the field.

The department of Commerce has its proud alumni’s in its Association who are spread across the world.

Special Lectures are arranged throughout the year and eminent persons in the field of HR, Marketing, Finance, Banking and Taxation are invited to interact with the students.
Seminars and workshops are regularly held to give knowledge to the students and faculty on recent trends in Commerce.

Industrial tour is arranged every year to give a practical exposure to the final year students.

The M.Com is a full time 4 semester course. The curriculum is designed by considering the requirements of the industries. In the last one decade of existence of the department our students have made a mark in their academic activities and careers.Eligibility for Admission:
The candidate who has passed B.COM/BBM/BBA of University of Mysore or any other recognized university considered as equivalent there to, with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination. A relaxation of 5% is available for SC/ST and Cat-I candidates. Intake is limited to 60 seats in a year. The candidates seeking admission to M. ELECTIVE GROUPS:
Any TWO groups from the available electives shall be selected by students at the commencement of the Semester. Once groups have been selected, no change in the selected groups will be allowed later. The department will announce at the end of the second semester, elective groups which will be offered during III and IV semesters depending on the availability of faculty members and the demand for electives.MINOR PROJECT WORK
A student in the fourth semester shall register for a project work which carries 4 credits. Workload for project work and tutorial class is 1 hour per batch of 4 students per week for the teacher. The students shall do field work and library work in the remaining 3 hours per week. Continuous assessment criteria for project work include: Component-I (C-1): Periodic Progress and Progress Reports-15Marks Component-II (C-2): Results of Work and draft report-15 Marks Component-III (C-3): Final Viva-voce and Project Report Evaluation-70 Marks. The project Reports evaluation is for 50 Marks and the Viva-voce examination is for 20 MarksProgramme Outcomes
